Description
A member of Le Montagnard snowshoe club of Lewiston, possibly Richard Couillard, at the American Snowshoe Congress annual competition in Biddeford in 1927.
Couillard was second in the 100-yard dash, won the 440-yard dash, and was second in the 880-yard race.
Le Montagnard in Lewiston was the first snowshoe club in the United States, formed in 1924. It was named after Le Montagnard in Montreal, Canada's first snowshoe club, formed in 1895.
