Description
Joseph Patri and G. E. Demers, members of Le Frontenac, a snowshoe club in Québec, Canada, stopped in Portland on Thursday, January 27, 1927 on their way to the international Snowshoe Convention in Manchester, N.H.
The pair trekked 437 miles on their snowshoes, stopping in various cities along the way. In Lewiston, they were greeted by snowshoe clubs and in Biddeford, where they went after Portland, they attended a reception and dinner put on by Le Votigeur club.
One or two club members often trekked on snowshoes long distances to the conventions.
