Description
Margret Chase Smith, a surprise attendee, spoke at the dedication of the newly built addition to the Post Office on Farwell Ave. in the Town of Cumberland, November 7, 1965. Norman W. Hulit was, at that time, Town of Cumberland Postmaster General. He had been appointed postmaster in 1936 and saw the post office moved to Farwell Ave. in 1947. He attended this dedication and also spoke. Other attendees of note were U.S. Post Office official, John A. Erickson, and Cumberland School Superintendent, Vaughn Lacombe.
Mr. Hulit served until July 31, 1970, when his sister Frances Hulit Nelson became the officer in charge. She was appointed Postmaster on April 3, 1970, and served until Rena M. Lamson became Postmaster in September, 1972.
