Description
After the long-awaited opening of the new President Franklin Roosevelt Memorial Bridge between Lubec, Maine and Campobello Island, New Brunswick, alternate U. S. and Canadian flags flew along the length of the handsome steel and concrete engineering feat. The Canadian “Red Ensign” flag (with the UK “Union Jack” in the corner) flew, as the later red and white maple leaf flag was not used until 1965.
