Description
The opening of the Roosevelt Memorial Bridge connecting Lubec with Campobello Island, Canada in August 1962 required a U. S. Customs office at its foot. Eventually a permanent brick building would be constructed. Temporarily a trailer was used, as shown here. The officer wielding the broom is wearing the era's standard blue uniform with brass buttons and blue officer cap. The junction of Water Street appears in the background, its junction with Washington Street just beyond the left border of this photograph.
