Description
Louis-Philippe Gagné (1900-1963) in a portrait probably taken when he served as mayor of Lewiston in 1947-1948. He also was editor of the Franco-American newspaper in Lewiston, Le Messager, and active in many community organizations.
He was the founder of the snowshoe club movement in the United States.
He came to Lewiston from Quebec in 1922 and started Le Montagnard snowshoe club in 1924.
