Mabel Chase Hall was born February 12, 1874, in Cumberland, the daughter of Dr. Franklin Stevens and Olive Stiles Hall. Prior to the opening of Prince Memorial Library on January 7, 1923, Olive Hall served as librarian for the Cumberland Library. The library's books were stored in the house at 283 Main Street, and when transferred to Prince Memorial Library numbered in excess of 600.
