Description
This map shows proposed dikes or dams in a feasibility study for a tidal power project in Cobscook Bay authorized by the U. S. Senate in 1975. Note the line running from Lubec Neck, site of Lubec village, to Dudley Island, and the line from Treat Island to Estes Head on Moose Island, site of the City of Eastport. Dams were never built along these lines. However. note the causeway between Dudley and Treat, an artifact from the Quoddy Tidal Project suspended in 1937 when Congress cut funding. This map is contained as page 63 in the report “Investigation of Tidal Power Cobscook Bay, Maine” U.S. Army Engineers, August 1980.
