Water Street renovation, Lubec, ca. 1980

Contributed by Lubec Historical Society

Description

The two-story building shown here was built before the turn of the 20th century. Its then-elaborate Victorian facade long housed the C. H. Clark Department store, then by mid-century Unobsky’s Department Store. Unobsky removed the Victorian gingerbread and added the single-story wing. By the late 20th century this complex was modernized, and became home to Lubec Apothecary, which went out of business about 2004 leaving the building vacant.
