Description
Harold Hayes cranks his car in front of Row House on Second Street. Row House was built in 1846 by Issac Gage of Augusta and Hallowell Cotton Mill workers lived there. The Federal-style workers' residence was saved from demolition in 1969 by Row House, Inc., a group of local citizens devoted to historic preservation. The restored structure was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
