Description
The house at Elm Hill dairy farm, on Litchfield Road in Hallowell was designed in 1799 by Charles Vaughan, for his sister Rebecca, who married John Merrick. By the early 20th century, the property was being run as a dairy farm by members of the Vaughan family. According to the caption at the bottom of the picture, the cottage was lived in by Carl Nickerson, manager of the farm, when this picture was taken around 1933.
