Description
23 year-old A.L.T Cummings of Biddeford with his high-wheel bicycle in 1888. The high-wheel bicycle, with its disproportionate wheels designed for optimum speed, came after the boneshaker style and before the safety bicycle, which both had relatively equal-sized wheels.
Cummings died December 3, 1951 at age 86 after an extensive newspaper career.
