Description
Sebastian Rasles (1657-1724), a Jesuit missionary who was killed in an English-Mohawk attack near Norridgewock, owned this copy of Hermann Busenbaum's Medulla Theologiae Moralis.
The inscription reads, "This book did belong to Monsegnior Ralle, the Jesuit missionary from France among the Eastern Indians who was killed at Narantsouak, when it was surprised and destroyed by Col. Harman, Major Moulton and company in the wars, This was the Jesuit's vademecum. It was given by Major Joshua Moodey of Casco Bay to William Welsteed."
