Description
Between 1900 and 1920 before automobiles and surfaced roads, the ferries such as the "Eastport" provided transportation between Campobello Island, Eastport, and Lubec, and between Lubec and North Lubec. Shown here is the steamer “Eastport,” built in Dennysville Maine by Lyman Pushee in 1901, length 76 feet, beam 19.5 feet, 64 tons. According to the article “Notes on the Maritime History of Lubec” by Frank P. Adams, Sr., she was abandoned in 1939.
