Description
Members of the York County Wheelmen pose during an outing in Saco or Biddeford in 1890. The bicycles behind them on the porch are the high-wheel style, built for greater speed than earlier models. The club was established in 1883 and sponsored many banquets, outings and dances.
Front row, left to right: Joseph Etchells, William Davis, George Leavitt, J. Vaughan Dennett, Edward Chadbourne (later Agent of the York Mills), Walter Mitchell, and "Prof." Lester Butler (singing teacher).
In the Rear, only two are known: Harry Jose (3rd from left), and Edward Etchells (at right).
