Description
Knights Templar parading on Main Street, Biddeford at Harmon's Corner, June 1912. The Templars were among the most famous of the Western Christian military orders. Their stated mission initially was to protect pilgrims on their journey to visit he Holy Places in Palestine.
In the background of the picture is the area left vacant by the Harmon's Corner Fire of 1911. The Harmon’s Corner fire occurred on August 8, 1911 and destroyed 65 homes and businesses in the downtown area.
