Description
Biddeford Fireman Directors helmet from the Pioneer Company 2. The Pioneer Co. was formed in 1848 with 60 members of the Fire Department. They were disbanded and replaced by the Triumph Engine Company #1 in 1855. (this was deemed a political move with Biddeford becoming a city in 1855). This company consisted of 100 members in 1867-68.
The helmet is located at the museum of the National Archives at Philadelphia. Pennsylvania.
