Description
Thomas Hill (1818-1891), minister of the First Parish Church in Portland, with his granddaughter, Evelina Pierce (1880-1970), the daughter of Lewis and Mary Bellows Hill Pierce of Portland, in about 1881.
Hill, a graduate of Harvard, had been president of Antioch College in Ohio and Harvard before coming to Maine in 1870 to serve at First Parish Church.
Evelina, known as "Ourlena," became a teacher and principal at a private school in New York.
