Description
Anne Longfellow Pierce in her home on Congress Street in Portland in about 1896.
Pierce, the daughter of Zilpah Wadsworth and Stephen Longfellow, lived in the family home most of her life. Her husband, George Washington Pierce, died in 1835 after they had been married three years.
Her grandfather, Peleg Wadsworth, built the brick home in 1785-1786 on what was then known as Back Street.
