Description
Josiah Pierce Jr. (1861-1902), the son of Josiah Pierce of London, England, in his military uniform. He got a commission in the Army during the Spanish-American war.
Pierce, a civil engineer, was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, when his father was a diplomat there. His mother was Martha Lander of Salem, Mass. Pierce grew up in Russia, Portland, and London.
