Description
Nieces and nephews of Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) of Baldwin, agreed in a draft document to relinquish their interests in the family homestead in West Baldwin. They were all the children or spouses of children of Hannah's brother Josiah of Gorham.
Hannah Pierce had also left property to children of her other siblings. They also signed quit-claim deeds.
Josiah Pierce wanted to buy out his siblings and cousins to insure that the house and farm were well cared for and stayed in the family. He intended to spend summers there, but he had lived overseas, in Russia and England, most of his adult life, and only returned for short visits.
