Description
Josiah Pierce (1792-1866) graduated from Bowdoin College in 1818, the first in a long line of Pierce men to attend the college. Pierce, the son of Josiah and Phebe Pierce of Baldwin, became a lawyer and lived in Gorham.
His brother, George Washington Pierce, graduated from Bowdoin in 1825.
Josiah's sons also graduated from Bowdoin, Josiah in 1849 and George W. in 1857.
