Description
E.B. White (1899-1985), a noted writer of essays, children's literature, and a manual on style, wrote to Katharine Curtis Pierce in 1949 to decline an invitation to speak at the Fellowship of Reconciliation, a group devoted to peace and to inter-faith cooperation.
White moved to North Brooklin, Maine, in 1957 with his wife, Katharine Sergeant Angell.
Pierce was married to Henry Hill Pierce, a native of Portland, and the daughter of William J. Curtis, a native of Brunswick. Both her father and her husband were lawyers in New York.
