Description
Ruth Crocker Pierce (1794-1875) wrote to her sister Hannah Pierce (1788-1873) about the death of their brother Josiah Pierce of Gorham.
The sisters were the last surviving siblings born to Josiah and Phebe Thompson Pierce of Baldwin. Hannah was the eldest of the eight siblings who survived to adulthood.
Josiah Pierce was a lawyer and probate judge and active in the Gorham Female Academy.
