Description
William Seaman of New York wrote to Maine Marshal Thomas Thornton of Saco seeking prize money due to two former crew members of the Young Teazer, a privateers that sailed out of Portland and was blown up on June 27, 1813 in Nova Scotia.
The crew members, John Mitchell and John Piles, had been imprisoned in Nova Scotia following the explosion that only eight crew members survived.
The Young Teazer preyed on British ships, taking cargo and often capturing the ship itself.
