Description
Lt. Hayes, who was recruiting soldiers for Col. Isaac Lane of the 33rd U.S. Infantry, wrote to say he had been unable to get to Mt. Desert because he encountered British soldiers at Belfast and Hamden.
He also noted that he was having trouble recruiting because of the number of people recruiting soldiers.
