Description
The Charles Ring family home in Lubec. The front entrance of this cape or Cape Code style house on Lubec’s Main Street actually faced the water, for Main runs parallel to the right end of the dwelling. Note the unusually plain, unadorned door, lacking even a step. There is a child on a tricycle and the rustic settee near the right side of the house. According to the caption of this photo in the 1994 Lubec Historical Society calendar, this was “the former home of Dr. Townsend...George Moses (1869-1944), later U.S. Senator from New Hampshire (1918-1933), was born (February 9, 1869) when his father lived here while a minister in Lubec.” The Bion Pike mansion was built on this site, #30 Main Street, in 1894.
