Description
Older trees date this sharp photograph to shortly before the November, 1913 fire which destroyed this building. Housing all grades, a new elementary-only school was subsequently built on the site while a separate high school was erected several blocks away on Main Street. In this photo School Street runs across the lower front. At the school building’s side is Church Street. Columbian Hall, saved from the fire, is to the right. As of 2010 a building housing the Lubec Fire Department, Robert J. Peacock Fire Museum, and Town Hall occupies the site of the old school. Columbian Hall has been replaced by a parking lot.
