An ambrotype portrait of Benjamin B. Stevens of Unity, ca. 1858, by an unknown maker.

This ambrotype is housed in a "Union case", a decorative, plastic frame for daguerreotypes and ambrotypes invented in 1853. This case was made by A. P. Critchlow & Co. of Massachusetts.
