Description
On Thursday, June 30, 1988, the U.S. Coast Guard arrived at West Quoddy Light Station with orders to decommission manned operation in the lighthouse and switch to automation. The Coast Guard color guard commenced the ceremony at 11:00 AM. The last lighthouse keeper, Malcolm “Mac” Rouse (in dark glasses) stands at attention just left of the flags.
