Description
The Seaboard Packing Company of Lubec was formed from a split of the old Seacoast Canning Company during the 1930s Great Depression, operating until its sale to Calvin Stinson in 1954. Seacoast’s Neptune brand was sold as a premium grade, indicated by the boxed can in the illustration. This small pamphlet probably preceeded the 32-page stapled “58 Ways to Serve Sardines Hot and Cold” measuring 5-1/4 inches x 7 inches and featuring full-color photographs.
Seaboard Packing also operated plants in Robbinston and Portland. This promotional four-fold pamphlet includes 25 more imaginative “serving suggestions” on the reverse side.
