Description
The Parade of Horribles and Antiques was one of many events held on July 5, 1920 the last day of the Maine Centennial (June 26-July 5). Marchers carried antiques, or dressed in outlandish costumes.
Other activities on this last day were a military and naval parade, fireworks at Brighton Avenue Field and sporting competitions between crews of visiting warships.
This photograph, with a collection of others from the parade, was on page twenty-two of the Tuesday, July 6, 1920 issue of the Portland Evening Express with the title "Indicative of What the Camera Can Stand--Views of Monday's Parade of Horribles."
