Description
Writing to his sister from a hospital in Aquia Creek, Virginia, where he was convalescing from an accidental wound to his foot, Sgt. Horace M. White of the Maine 1st Cavalry, discussed the poor food and how much soldiers paid local providers for various food items.
He also commented that many who "were most anxious to hear from me have proved most lax in returning the compliment."
White was from Houlton.
