Description
The "Old Holman House" was located at 687 Pool Road, and was built in 1776. It is an Early American saltbox, a design very popular at this time.
The house takes its name from John Holman who was born in 1799 (possibly in this house) and who lived here until his death in 1872. Erastus and Martha Thompson bought the house after his death, and the Thompson family lived there until 1987.
Most of the land was then sold to the Maine Audubon Society, and the house was later floated up the river to Saco.
