Description
Postcard photograph looking north from the Mowry pasture. Jabez Mowry was an early settler and businessman who owned extensive property in the area. The high school, which burned in 1913, and the Congregational Christian Church steeple are visible at the highest point of the town. The property is currently owned by the Downeast Coastal Conservancy and the site of a boardwalk nature trail. The pasture is now a wetland/alder thicket. The fence line is still visible today.
