Description
Margaret Bailey contributed the following information regarding this photograph:
"Camp meeting was held in Jacksonville on Gardiner's Lake. Families from all over the area attended for a week or two each summer, often returning to the same building (camp) every year. There were community suppers, hymn sings and church services. My mother remembered those times fondly, and remained friends with children she met there throughout her life. According to 'Vital Records of Lubec, Prior to 1892' a Charles Scott was listed as an undertaker. It seems likely that he rented out his wagons for other transport as well."
"Charlie Scott's buckboard on way to camp meeting, about 1890" is written on back of the photograph.
