Description
Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen, a prolific marine painter, painted a portrait of the Horatio Hall steamship.
The Maine Steamship Company owned the vessel that carried passengers and freight between Portland and New York between 1898 and 1909. This Horatio Hall sank when it collided with the H.F. Dimock on March 10, 1909.
Jacobsen (1851-1921), an immigrant from Denmark, worked on commission and was hired by several shipbuilding firms to paint portraits of their ships.
