Description
In the 1920s Portland's Kennebec Street, between Forest Avenue and Hanover Street, was a busy mix of 19th and 20th century technology. Some roads were paved, others were dirt.
A city hay scale, run by "Weigher of Hay" George H.P. Larrabee, was located near the New England Grain Company, 205-219 Kennebec St.
New England Grain, owned by Leon Herman, moved in the mid 1920s to Union Wharf. The business later became the New England Feed Company.
