Description

Sgt. Horace M. White of Co. E, Maine 1st Cavalry wrote to his sister in Houlton describing what he had heard of his regiment and the progress of the war.

White had been hospitalized since April with a wound to his foot. He commented that 500-600 Gettysburg wounded were at the hospital in Philadelphia, but he had not seen any from his regiment. He said many were wounded in the hands, arms, and head.
