Description
The A.H. Benoit & Co. store at 278 Middle St., Portland, decorated for Christmas in 1919.
A note on the back of the photo reads, "Our first exterior Christmas decorations, 1919. Doon Boys in Page Uniform at each entrance opening doors for customers."
Benoit purchased Frank M. Low Co. in Portland in 1915 and operated it as A.H. Benoit & Co.
The company also had stores in Massachusetts, Biddeford, Lewiston, Brunswick, and other locations, along with the original store in Westbrook.
