Description
An elaborately carved woman's hair comb made of tortoiseshell features tiny crosses in the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath and sprays of laurel.
Large hair combs -- many of which rose above the hair on the back of the head -- were popular adornments for evening and other fancy occasions, especially in the 19th century.
