Description
The Americanization program of the Portland schools, through the leadership its director, Clara Soule, put on a "Pageant of the History of the United States."
Emily Chase, supervisor of music for the Portland schools, arranged the music and conducted the musical portion.
Students and teachers acted out the "patomime of the high lights of the history of the United States," which was presented chronologically from the prologue, "A Day in the Wilderness," to Episode XII, "What America Stands For."
