Description
The Rev. Edward Payson served the Second Congregational Church in Portland from 1807 to 1827.
A native of Rindge, New Hampshire, he was educated at Harvard University and became a school principal in Portland, then became junior pastor at the Congregational Church.
Payson Park along Baxter Boulevard in Portland was named for him.
