Description
Lubec High School was founded in 1896. Initially sharing space with the elementary school atop the hill within the village, the structure burned on November 26, 1913. Rebuilt for an elementary school only, a new dedicated high school was erected on Main Street (later Route 189), opening for the 1915-16 school term. The pristine facade and low shrubbery suggests that this photograph was taken when the yellow wooden structure was still new. It lasted through the 1976-77 term, and was demolished in 1978.
