Description
This photograph depicts Old Orchard Beach Center at the turn of the twentieth century. On East and West Grand Avenues stands the famous Velvet Hotel (where the Grand Victorian currently stands), as well as the Alberta Hotel and Seashore House on Old Orchard Street. The railroad crossing sign appears to be where it still is today. The pier can be viewed in the background, appearing much longer than it is today. Judging by the photograph, horse and buggy was still a popular method of transportation, but not for long.
