Description
A carte de visite image of a Civil War officer has written on it "Col. S.H. Leonard." It is possibly Samuel H. Leonard of the 13th Massachusetts Infantry.
The card was in the collection of Major Abner Small of the 16th Maine Infantry. The 16th Maine and 13th Massachusetts infantries fought together at Gettysburg July 1-3, 1863, at Spotsylvania Court House May 17-21, 1864, and in other battles.
