Description
Bertha Chamberlain was the color bearer in the parade of the Grand Army of the Republic at Philadelphia, Sept. 5, 1899. She was with Post 8 of New Jersey, her age 12 years.
This photograph was sent to Nathan Goold, the Librarian of the Maine Historical Society, in November 1899. Bertha Chamberlain was the granddaughter of Samuel Eslick, 10th New Jersey Infantry. She is not related to Joshua L. Chamberlain of Maine.
