Description
Isaac Warren Starbird, a native of Litchfield and graduate of Bowdoin College, mustered into Company F of the 19th Maine Volunteer Infantry as a captain in August 1862.
He served with the 19th He served with the 19th at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville and Gettysburg (where he was wounded) and several other engagements.
He was later assigned to Motts Brigade, 4th Division, 2nd Corps, then was promoted to major in 1864 and became commander of the 19th Maine.
He later became a colonel and Brevet Brigadier General.
He became a physician in Massachusetts after the war.
