Description
Downtown Old Orchard wreckage, taken on October 4, 1948 showing the damage from the fire the day before. This roller coaster was the last wooden roller coaster in Old Orchard Beach at the Palace Playland amusement park. A newspaper article mentioned the famous wooden roller coaster, "...looked like an oil well on fire." Damages from the fire totaled $250,000.
