Description
John O'Donnell (1821-1882), a native of Donegal, Ireland, was pastor at St. Dominic's Church in Portland from 1850-1855. The church had a largely Irish immigrant congregation.
O'Donnell graduated from Mt. Saint Mary's in 1847 and was ordained at the cathedral in Boston. He founded the Church of Immaculate Conception in Nashua, New Hampshire.
The artist, Charles Octavius Cole (1817-1858), moved to Portland in 1833 and worked as a portrait artist.
